Chillin’ with Pfizer @BlogHer 2011

What a whirlwind!  BlogHer Conference was held in San Diego this year and I was excited to work with Pfizer at their amazing booth as a spokesperson for Centrum, Caltrate with D, and their new product line of Pro-Nutrients (set to launch in September 2011!) Pfizer made it possible for me to meet and do 15-minute nutrition consultations with BlogHer participants!  The connection and emotion were incredible, and the stories people shared touched my heart.  Due to confidentiality, which I take seriously, I won’t divulge what was said, but I will say that more than one person shared stories that involved tears.  I felt blessed to be there and help those struggling with some serious nutrition-related challenges.

The Pfizer booth was so fun with such great interactive activities for the BlogHer participants!  I took advantage of the fun picture booth with my surfing (and new blogging) buddy, Amy, and along with me as the dietitian, Pfizer also had a fitness expert on hand to share exercise & fitness tips!  They really knew how to connect with their audience.  The biggest thing for me was seeing how much the booth reps cared about the participants of BlogHer!  Everyone was so friendly and happy to help the next person who walked through.  It really made me smile to be a part of the “Pfeel” better movement!

By the way, I’m not getting paid to write this!  Yes, I was paid as a spokesperson and asked to tweet about my time at the booth, but no one paid me write a blog post nor do this video:

I do love the Centrum line of products.  Both my parents take Centrum Silver and it is the multivitamin that I recommend for those who need a multi.  And the chocolate truffle flavored Caltrate with D is yummy!  It was perfect right after dinner! Albeit scrumptious, they are not candy so eat just one at a time!

On top of our great booth I had a chance to wander over to the California Raisin booth and meet up with some of my favorite nutrition experts, Registered Dietitians Michelle Dudash (Chef Dudash), Rebecca Scritchfield, & Leslie Schilling!  Check out their great websites & blogs, too!  We had a great time connecting & posing with one of our favorite snacks!

The one thing that did strike me about the conference is that I witnessed and heard a lot of confusion about nutrition and nutrition information.  The four of us really are staunch believers in the non-dietiting approach and finding your intuition on hunger and letting that be your guiding force in health.  Yes, a lot of training is needed to retrain what children do naturally.  As nutrition professionals we realized how much work we have ahead of us in leading the way in science-based, sound nutrition advice that the public can swallow & understand!  I was so thankful to be there and work with so many of the BlogHer participants. I hope I get a chance to go back next year and do it again.

There are so many great blogs out there providing good, positive nutrition messages that don’t revolve around counting calories, points, or restricting.  I’d love to hear your favorites!  Please share!

The girls & I went off to enjoy a fabulous dinner at La Strada Trattoria (5th & G in downtown San Diego) for a treat!  We enjoyed & savored every bite!

  1. Fun Post! I’m glad you and other RDs were there to hope sort out all the nutrition information out there! Love what you say about needing to retrain adults to eat like kids do naturally. Sad but true!
